14 months

Oh I am getting bad at these monthly updates!

14 months old!

Eyes: Blue
Hair: light brown. Still havent' cut it yet. Still curly!

Teeth: 4 on top, 4 on bottom.
Diapers: Size 4's.
Clothes: 18 months for the most part.
Shoes: Size 3's.

Sleep: Great! We have been trying to keep him up until closer to 7, but he sometimes goes down at 6:30. Generally don't hear a peep until 5 or 5:30. Argh. I can't believe we are back to the early wakeups. It does'nt matter when he goes to bed, he is always up early. Naps are great, and are generally 1 hr - 1.5 hr's. Twice a day. Doesn't seem anywhere ready to cutting out his am nap, but that is probably because he is up so early.

Food: Loves! He definitely has his favourites, which he will eat tons of. Kraft dinner, cheesy broccoli rice, and fruit. He is generally ok with other foods, but if he is tired, then he refuses to eat most things. Veggies are always the most difficult to get him to eat (except for peas), but I can usually hide them in his pasta or rice or something. He wants to feed himself with his spoon now, which ultimately leads to very frustrating, messy meals.

Milk: He loves his milk. He drinks only from a sippy cup, and will have milk when he wakes up, for 3 meals, and has a cup before bed.

Speech: Still concerned here. He does say da da, can say ma ma, but generally isn't saying it to us. He has said baa, moo, and woof woof, but not any more. Sam swears he said bath yesterday. I think he can say banana. (kind of).

Walking: He is soooo close. Today he took about 6-7 steps on his own. Any day now.

Books: He loves reading. Richard scarry, flap books, books about trucks, anything. Reading is a big part of our day.

Toys: He loves anything that makes noise. He loves cars, and trucks, and the fisherprice garage. He loves banging things, and he loves his shape sorters. His pirate ship is one of his newest favourites.

This is a fun age! He is generally pretty happy, and is happy to do whatever I want/need to do. ie. need to go to the store, no prob. Need to go upstairs to put away laundry, no prob. The hardest part is attempting to make dinner, as once he sees me making food, he thinks he should be eating it right then and there.

We had a busy month of March, with taking him to Florida for the first week. That was awesome, and proved once again that he is a water baby. He loved the pool, the beach, the ocean (even though it was cold). He had so much fun, slept fantastically, travelled really well, and was just a joy the entire time.

Now that the weather is getting warmer, we have been going outside to practice our walking. There is park just up the street that he loves going to. He loves the slides, and loves walking up and down the curbs.

He loves being chased around the house, and the tickled. He loves playing on the blow up bed, and being thrown up on to our bed. He loves his daddy, and when daddy is around, mommy is not needed. :( Breaks my heart, but I am with him all day so the limited time he sees daddy, he only wants him.

He is still a bit shy of strangers (although happily flirts with them in stores), but at playgroups, or library, or even our house, he tends to act a bit funny. Even with other kids sometimes. I think I need to make a better effort to socialize him more with other kids his own age.

I've made the decision to work 2 days a week, so Will is going to be going to Gramma M's. It will only be from about 9-2:45, so I will still get the afternoon with him. I think this will be beneficial to both of us, as I have to admit I do miss the company of adults, and adult conversation. Plus the extra income will definitely be helpful for us.

We have Will signed up for swimming lessons coming soon, as well as a tumble tots class that I am going to take him too. Starts in two weeks, and he needs to be walking. lol Fingers crossed.

13 months

Just noticed that this didnt post earlier

13 months!

Eyes: blue
Hair: light brown. It is getting super long! He needs a haircut! It still has curls.

Teeth: has two on top, two on bottom, and the two on either sides top and bottom are almost all the way through.

Diapers: size 4s
Sleep: nights are great! He generally goes to bed around 6:15-6:30. We would love to get him to stay up until 7 but he just cant make it unless he has super great naps. He still often gets up early. If we are lucky it is 6:30 but usually it is more like 5:30. Or 5.
Naps are pretty good. He still has 2 naps that range from 45-1:15 or so. He falls asleep on his own but he sometimes needs us to go in and lie him down (or change his poopy diaper :) )

Food: this boy eats! He wakes up and has some milk and cheerios while we wait for jackson (or for it to be a reasonable time of morning). Breakfast is toast, fruit and yogurt. He loves his toast! Wont have anything elSe. Midmorning snack is crackers or fruit or cheerios. Lunch is grilled cheese or soup usually, plus fruit. Afternoon snack may be a mini muffin, or crackers, or nutrigrain bar. Dinner is anything! Pasta, rice, meat, potatoes, veggies and always fruit. I think his favourite is kraftdinner, ham, eggs, perogies and peas and avocado. Have yet to find a fruit he doesnt like.

BottleS: he is now just down to his bedtime bottle! He does great at drinking his milk from a sippy but he does need a lot of encouragement. We also warm up his morning milk which seems to help.

Clothes: wearing generally all 18 month clothes. Some 12 month onesies but the arms are pretty short.

Still not walking or talking. A little concerned about the speech but am waiting for his 15 month appt.

Books: loves his numbers book, shapes and his karen katz lift the flaps books. He is also quite into his richard scarry book.

Spent his first weekend at Gramma and Grampa M's while we went up to blue mountain. He had a great time. Slept and ate well.

The post I have been dreading. My baby is One Years Old! How time really does fly!

Weight:23 lbs
Height:31.25"
Eyes: blue (mix up at the lab??)
Hair: light brown. Getting long now with some curls.

Wearing 12 month pants. 12 or 18 month onesies and shirts. I keep stuffing him in 12 month jammies but need to accept the fact that he should be in 18 month ones.

Diapers: again, keep stuffing him in size 3s but he is starting to pee through them so should be in a size 4. (Wears size 4 overnights).

Food: basically he eats anything! Loves pasta and toast. Any kind of fruit but especially blueberries and watermelon. Veggies he doesnt like as much unless its in soup or sauce so occasionally I will feed him a pureed one just so he gets some. Regularly eats: meatballs, ham, soup, pasta, rice, eggs, avocados, yogurt, all fruits, and some veggies. Seems to lately really like peas. Need to work on coming up with more foods to try though. Gave him quinoa today and he gobbled it up.

Bottles: he still has 4 formula bottles of about 7 oz. he usually will drink all of them. Waiting on his 12 month appointment to find out when to switch to homo. I guess i should also be encouraging him to drink formula/milk from a sippy.

He loves his water :).

Sleep: has been fantastic. Since he started to sleep on his own, we rarely hear a peep from him. He was doing great going from like 6-6:30 to 7. It was amazing! But lately he has been waking up at 5:30. Not so nice. Later bedtime isnt helping that. So hoping this is just a short phase and he will go back to sleeping until 7. It is just a long day when he gets up that early. Especially because naps still suck. He fights sleeping in our bed with us. He constantly just rolls over and sits up. Sometimes that takes 45 min-1 hr. all for a 30 minute nap :(. So we have resorted again to rocking him. Bad I know! But this only takes 10-20 min and then we put him in his own bed so I can finally start getting things done around here. ( or laze around!!). But I am working on getting him to fall asleep on his own in his own bed. Every once in a while he will. So he does get it. Anyway. He still takes 2 naps a day. Usually 30 min but occasionally 1 hr. breaking news: he has been sleeping in his own bed for naps! It takes a while with a little bit of crying (and a diaper change for morning nap) but woo hoo!! Even if they are only 30 min!!

Still crawling like crazy! Getting pretty fast. Loves stairs. Pulls himself up on things. Often crawls a step or two on his feet. He will sometimes let go of the table for a few seconds. I dont think he is anywhere near walking though. When we practice he just doesnt seem to have the balance at all. It seems like he doesnt get it yet.

Still no real words. We hear dadadada but i dont count that yet :) he does babble a lot tho.

He is starting to get angry when he doesnt get what he wants. Little temper tantrums! It actually makes me laugh sometimes because he often doesnt know what he is upset about.

He is really beginning to understand what we say and follow directions. Ie come into the kitchen. He knows what 'no' means. He just doesnt often listen. Especially when it comes to things going in his mouth. He will look at me and smile. And do it again. And laugh! Monkey.

Loves: water-to drink or to splash in. Being outside. Stairs. Doors (favourite). Bouncing on the blow up mattress. Baths (visits the bathtub 20 times a day).

Books: the karen katz books, Dog, but not the hippopotumus. He loves reading! Working on getting him interested in richard scary.

Toys: shape sorter, ball dinosaurs, the farm, balls, cars.

He makes 'oooohing' noises when he sees something he likes. Especially fans! He also still makes his sheep like sound quite often.

Still loves grampa B and gramma M.

Still a big flirt and loves being out in public. Wants all the attention and doesnt understand when some stranger isnt looking at him!

He loves giving kisses. I can ask for a kiss and he will give me one! Best thing ever!!

He is so funny and is really developing quite the personality. He is go go go from the minute he wakes up. Cant wait for warmer weather so we can get outside.

Happy Birthday William!!

Cayman 2013!

Cayman recap

What a fantastic trip! William surpassed all of our expectations for the plane ride. He had a short nap and than was super excited and easy to entertain even though we only had the two seats for the three of us. An easy 4 hr flight. He remained in good spirits even during the long customs line and through the grocery store. He finally fell asleep on the car ride to the house.

He was a little leary of the sand but once he got used to it, he loved it! He loved sitting in the sand so the waves could hit him. He would play with a sand pail and shovel and just sit there! Lol. It tool about 4-5 days before he realized he could crawl on the sand. He didnt mind the salt water at all. Everyone said 1 year old was the hardest time because they would constantly be getting sand on their hands and then try to eat it or rub it in their eyes. Well Will did neither.

Our routine was pretty much the same everyday. Up around 6:30-7. Play inside. Eat breakfast. Walk up to rum point. Get really drowsy on the way back and then nap. After nap it was beach time, snack time, more beach. Then lunch. Indoor play. Nap. Beach time, bath, dinner and bed! Naps were still short and difficult to get him down. But nights were great. Slept from about 6:30 ish - 6:30 ish.

Flight home was also great despite a super short am nap. Note for next time. Pack less toys. He loved playing with a bottle of water and our seatbelts!

11 months

11 months!

Weight?
Height?
Eyes: blue. Guessing they wont be changing but not really sure where they came from!
Hair: light brown and getting curlier!

Wearing 12 month pants but can still wear 9 month onesies. 12 or 12-18 month sweaters. 12 month jammies but these are getting tight especially when double diapered.

Sleep: at 11 months and 2 days by boy slept from 7-7 in his own bed! Woo hoo! We caved and let him CIO. It only lasted 7 minutes and he has been doing great since then! We lay him in his crib. Put him in his sleep sack and say night night. Some times he will roll around or sit up but he always goes to sleep on his own (tonight is night 5). Previously he was showing signs that he was capable of this. He went a few nights around the holiday from about 7:30-4 but othernights he would wake for 2 hr stretches. I think letting him cry worked so well because he knew he could do it!
Naps on the other hand have been tough. He fights them like crazy. Wont sleep in his own bed. Sleeps in our bed. Constantly tries to sit up. Sometimes it takes 30 minutes and by then he is overtired. Sometimes can get 1.5 hrs. Sometimes only 30. But this usually happens twice a day. But the last few days he has been ready for bed at 6. Which means dad wont see him during the week. :(. Not sure how to fix this.

Food: my boy is quite the piggy! He still has 4 bottles of formula. Not sure when to drop a bottle. I dont see him switching to sippy cup 100% of the time any time soon. He loves toast! For breakfast he will have toast and fruit. Isnt super interested in his cereal. Lunch is often soup or grilled cheese. Occasionally pasta or something. Dinner is often egg, ham, meatball, or someother left over meat. Chicken occasionally. And veggies. Sometimes pasta, sweet potatoes or his barley cereal. He loves waffles, avocado, blueberries. He has cheerios, arrowroots, or mummums for snacks. He tries to steal our food all the time! He isnt a huge fan of vegetable pieces so I will sometimes still give him pureed ones. Im still afraid of gassy foods but i need to start incorporating those in to his diet. He loves picking up all his food now.

He is a mover now! Crawling away but still with one leg up. He sometimes tries to move with both feet on the ground but doesnt make is far. He found the stairs and loves them. He loves chasing after sam around corners. He pulls himself up on everything.

He babbles a fair amount but isnt really saying anything. Occasionally we will hear a daddy or mama but not sure if he is meaning too. I swear he is saying bumpa (for grampa).

He still loves his water. He still loves banging things.
His favourite toys are: little people zoo, his hammer toy, roll back cars, drum and shape sorter.
Loves books: favourites are Dog, moo baa, and not the hippopotomus. And sniff!
He loves loves loves my dad. As all the little ones did at this age.
He loves fans. And light switches.
He loves going out in public and looking at people and smiling at them. :)
Loves baths and will often crawl upstairs to look in the tub.

He still hates getting changed and its gettin more difficult now that he can move. He doesnt really hate much else!

His cough is much better. The puffer seemed to work but we still occasionally will hear it. I have a feeling he will need it again when he gets sick next.

Christmas was awesome this year. He loved the christmas tree and whenever he got upset we would take him to see it. Now that it is gone it feels weird to not have it in our bedtime routine.

We have a busy time coming up with 4 drs appointments and cayman! We are also thinking of heading down to florida in march with sams parents if he can get time off work.

I feel like the last few months he has made huge developmental leaps! He is no longer a little baby!
